The relative fed and watered him secretly until the ship was 50 miles from shore before he was let out of the chest is still in existence in Gape Girardeau County, Missouri and owned by Jane Shinn. The voyage took 14 weeks and the ship landed in new Orleans. Henry was naturalized on 27.11.1848. He married Caroline Kempe of Berel in Braunschweig.
